Margrit Pernau is Senior Researcher at the Center for the History of Emotions at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin. She studied History and Public Law and received her PhD in 1991. 2007 she did her "habilitation" with a work on Muslims in Delhi in the 19th century" She has published extensively on modern Indian history, historical semantics, global history, and translation studies and the history of emotions.
